Bamboo Phyllostachys vivax f. aureocaulis

Geographic Origin: Originates from China, it grows mainly in the east of China, in the Henan and Zhejiang provinces.
Adult size: 9 to 14 m. in height (can vary depending on its situation).
Diameter of cane: 3 to 7 cm.
Foliage: Evergreen.
Type of soil: Moist and deep. Does not like excessive chalk.
Exposure: Partial shade or sun.
Hardiness: -20°C.
Root development: Strong runner root system (extremely spreading variety).


Properties and uses:
Its canes are ochre in colour with green stripes. Its leaves are green and medium sized. It has an arched shape.
The striped canes of this bamboo are best shown off when it is planted in clumps or groups.
This is a hardy bamboo, which needs full sun to allow it to shine forth, however it is susceptible to cold winds. It was introduced in to Europe via Belgium in 1989.
