Properties and uses:
The wood and the leaves of this tree hardly remind hornbeam. The creamy white fruits look like those of the hop and can measure up to 6 cm in length. They make the tree look very attractive in summer when they ripen, but do not handle them as they have invisible, extremely hard spikes which get deep into the skin when touched.
