Dog Rose or Wild Rose - Rosa canina (latin)

Origin: Europe, Asia and Northern Africa.
Adult Dimensions: Height up to 3m (9,8'), width up to 2m (6,6').
Foliage: Deciduous, green, bluish green.
Soil Type: All.
Hardiness: Hardy to -15°C.
Exposure: Semi-shade to full sun.


Properties and uses:
The fragrant 5 petals white flowers appear in May and June followed by red fruits – rosehips- which add colour to the garden until winter. Rosehips are very rich in vitamin C. It is renowned for its strengthening, astringent and diuretic qualities. This is a very useful shrub and is very popular within hedges or flowerbeds.
