Melliferous hedge

Aims: The Melliferous Hedge is made of plants which attract bees and other pollinator insects. They perfectly integrate the landscape and offer a wide plant diversity, thus helping with keeping the biodiversity while offering food to the bees and the other pollinator insects. Plants producing pollen and/or nectar are used to create these hedges.

Adult height: The flowering hedge is usually between 1.50 and 3 metres in height.

Period of interest: All year.

Planting distances: Approximately every 1.50 metres. It can be planted in staggered rows for a fuller effect. For a screening hedge, we advise to plant every 80 centimetres, however, for a melliferous hedge, we want each plant to grow without competing with the others, thus offering a great plant diversity.

Pruning: It is best not to prune a melliferous hedge.
