Geographic Origin: Originates from Japan, it also grows in Korea and in Russia (Sakhaline Island).

Adult size: 1.5 to 3.5 m. in height.

This bamboo has elongated, shiny green leaves. It has an open yet slightly weeping shape.

It can be planted in clumps, in a hedge or thicket or in a planter.

The young shoots are edible. It is one of the most prized varieties among the Japanese.
