Geographic Origin: Originates from the center of China, it grows in the provinces of Henan, Shaanxi and Hubei.

Adult size: 5 to 8 m. in height.

Diameter of cane: 1,5 a 3 cm.

Foliage: Evergreen.

Type of soil: Moist and deep. Does not like excessive chalk.

Exposure: Sun.

Hardiness: -23°C.

Root development: Runner root system (spreading variety).

Characteristics and uses:
This bamboo has dark green canes. Its leaves are green and slender. It has a weeping form.

This bamboo can be planted in groups, but it is best when grown as a hedge.

Its young shoots are edible. It is possible to re-prune a hedge made up of phyllostachys flexuosa, as this bamboo is quite tolerant of pruning. It enjoys full sun.
