Night Blooming Jasmine - Cestrum nocturnum (latin)

Geographic origins: West Indies, Central America.
Adult size: Height up to 4 metres.
Foliage: Evergreen.
Type of soil: Neutral, moist, light and sandy.
Hardiness: Hardy to -5°C, the parts above ground can be affected by early frosts.
Position: Full sun.


Properties and uses:
The night blooming jasmine is a sought after shrub because of its nocturnal flowering and very intense perfume.
Throughout the summer its numerous small flowers open when the night falls and give out a powerful scent of lime and jasmine that fills the surrounding air, it is strongest during those hot evenings.
It is best planted in a tub so that it can be kept under cover during the winter.

Attention: All parts of the plant and especially the berries are toxic. This species can prove invasive in certain regions.
