Geographic Origin: This bamboo is found in the south of Chile (near Valdivia) and the south of Argentina ( the regions of Chubut and Rio-Negro).

Adult size: 3 to 5 metres in height.

Diameter of cane: Up to 3 cm.

Foliage: Evergreen.

Type of soil: Moist and deep. Does not like excessive chalk.

Climate: Southern variety.

Exposure: Partial shade or sun.

Hardiness: -10°C.

Root development: Clumper root system (non-spreading variety).

Chusquea couleou

Characteristics and uses:
The canes are very close together. Its foliage is green and its shape is very compact with the leaves close against the stem.

It is recommended to plant this bamboo on its own in the garden or even to keep it in a pot or container.

It is the most southern variety of bamboo (47 ° S.).
