Everything about: Citrus Yuzu

Citrus Yuzu (Ichang Papeda) - Citrus x junos (latin)

Geographical origin: China.
Adult dimensions: Height up to 4 m, width up to 4 m.
Foliage: Evergreen.
Type of soil: Free draining, neutral to acid.
Climate: Hardy to -5°C.
Site: Full sun.

Characteristics and uses:
The Yuzu is an original citrus fruit that produces lemons with a unique flavor and juice. It produces small, rounded fruits, with an uneven surface, becoming yellow when reaching maturity. It is used in cooking for its juice, zest and grating rind for both sweet and savory.

The Yuzu needs to be protected from cold in winter (pot and foliage), as it does not withstand negative temperatures below -5°C. However, this protection is only necessary if the temperature does not go up during the day.
In the coldest areas, it is recommended to shelter your Yuzu in a conservatory or in a non-heated room during winter.

Plant them now: the shortest way to your plate is through your garden!

Care advice:

Watering: Citrus plants do not like dryness, it is therefore important to water them regularly, but not abundantly. In summer, water every day if necessary and in winter water once to twice a week.
Fertiliser: From March to October, give it some citrus plants' fertiliser, once a month.
Pruning: Prune regularly in the spring and in summer to encourage ramification and keep it to the desired shape.
