Properties and uses:
Japanese Holly is an evergreen, compact shrub with glossy leaves. It is similar in appearance to Common Box and is therefore an interesting alternative for low hedges and French gardens.
It is also popular among Bonsai enthusiasts. The dense foliage of this Holly can adapt to any sort of pruning and shaping, even the most unusual ones.
Easy to grow, it is however recommended to protect it from direct sun in warm regions. It thrives in moist, well-drained soil and tolerates shady areas. Japanese Holly is also disease resistant.
Japanese Holly ‘Jenny’ with its glossy green foliage, is a great alternative to Box, for the creation of low hedges or borders. It grows more slowly than most varieties such as ‘Green Hedge’ and ‘Dark Green’.
