Eastern White Pine - Pinus strobus

Geographical origins: Eastern area of North America. Introduced in 1705.

Adult dimensions: Height up to 40 m (131'), width up to 15 m (49,2').

Foliage: Evergreen.

Type of soil: Avoid ground that is too wet or too dry. Dislikes lime.

Hardiness: Hardy to -32°C.

Exposure: Full sun.

Characteristics and uses:
The grey green foliage the pyramidal shape and the spreading branches and rapid growth make this a very beautiful tree for parks and gardens planted alone. Bonsai enthusiasts find this variety a very interesting subject. Light and tender wood that is easy to work with yet durable makes it very popular.
