Areas of origin: Europe, northern Asia as far as Korea and Japan.
Adult Dimensions:
Height up to 15 m, width up to 15 m (49,2').
Foliage: Deciduous.
Soil Type: Rich and moist.
Hardiness: Hardy to -36°C.
Exposure:
Semi-shade to full sun.


Properties and uses:
The little fragrant white flowers appear after the leaves in April and May. The drooping branches give an air of elegance to this little tree. It is planted alone in parks and gardens or within country hedges. The fruits are little black cherries when ripe but are not edible.
