Japanese Larch - Larix leptolepis, Larix kaempferi (latin)

Area of origin: Island of Hondo, Japan between 1200 (1312yds) and 2400 m (2624yds)  altitude.
Adult Dimensions: Height up to 20 meters (66'), width up to 8 meters (26').
Foliage: Deciduous.
Soil Type: Prefers soils light and aerated.
Hardiness: Hardy to -36°C.
Exposure: Full sun.

Properties and uses:
The rapid growth and the yellow foliage in autumn makes this tree very popular in parks. Particularly useful in an oceanic climate the wood has properties similar to that of the common larch. Very resistant it is mainly used in naval construction and in buildings.
