Area of origin: Recently introduced from China (1980).
Adult Dimensions: Height up to 4 m (13'), width up to 3m (9.8').
Foliage: Deciduous, dark green.
Soil Type: All.
Hardiness: Hardy to -25°C.
Exposure: Semi-shade to full sun.

Properties and uses:
Superb abundant flowers from spring to the end of summer. The perfumed pink flowers attract bees and butterflies.  The bark is a creamy colour when it exfoliates.  It can be planted alone, in a flowerbed or within a hedge.
