Spider plant - Chlorophytum (latin)
Indoor plant

Recommended temperature: 18 to 20°C, minimum 10°C.
Hygrometry: Normal to humid.
Soil: Free draining.
Site: Very bright, without direct sun.
Geographical origins: Southern Africa.


Characteristics and Uses:
The Chlorophytum is an indoor plant witch has long, bending, variegated leaves.
It produces an abundance of stolons, at the end of which new plants develop. These can be easily used as cuttings.
In certain conditions, it can also flower abundantly.
The Chlorophytum is also known for its air de-polluting properties, absorbing carbon monoxide, toluene and formaldehyde.


Looking after advice:

- Water moderately, but regularly, and spray water onto its foliage.
- Ensure that the bottom of the pot drains freely and let excess water run out.
- Space out watering in winter.
- Re-pot into a slightly bigger pot, every year, in the spring.
- Every 8 to 15 days, from March to October, add some fertilizer suitable for green plants.
