Description: Fern, Maidenhair spleenwort

Maidenhair spleenwort fern, English Maidenhair - Asplenium trichomanes (latin)

Geographical origins: Common in Europe, up to an altitude of 1800 m.
Adult dimensions: Height up to 20 cm, width up to 20 cm.
Foliage: Evergreen to semi-evergreen.
Type of soil: Rich, well drained and rather chalky.
Climate: Extremely hardy, up to -35°C.
Site: Mid-shade, rather humid environment, except in winter.

The Maidenhair Spleenwort Fern is a small fern that does not need a lot of care! Able to grow on a very thin layer of soil, it thrives in between rocks spaces and stone walls’ cracks... It likes humid environments but withstands long periods of dryness one established, as long as it is in the shade.
Finally, this fern is the ideal plant for the creation of vegetal walls.
