Prickly Heath with pink berries - Gaultheria, Pernettya mucronata rosea (latin)

Area of origin: South America
Adult dimensions: Height up to 80cm
Foliage: Evergreen
Soil type: Rather moist and acidic. Does not tolerate lime
Hardiness: Hardy to -15°C
Exposure: Full sun to partial shade

Characteristics and uses:
Gaultheria mucronata or Pernettya mucronata, also known as Prickly Heath, is a compact, bushy shrub. The pink berries that appear in autumn and winter are very decorative. At the end of spring, small, white, bell-shaped flowers bloom.
The dark green foliage turns purple when temperatures get lower.
The Prickly Heath can be planted in a flower bed with other plants that like acidic soil. It is the ideal plant to decorate the most shaded areas of your garden.
