Sawtooth Oak - Quercus acutissima (latin)

Geographic origins: Japan, China, Korea.
Adult dimensions: Height up to 30 m, width up to 10 m.
Foliage: Deciduous.
Type of soil: Acid soil, well drained.

Exposure: Full sun.


Properties and uses:
The Sawtooth oak is a very decorative tree. It has small acorns with a large basal scar that is hidden by long thick scales. Both jays and pigeons eat it. It grows quickly in the first few years. It does best when planted on its own in a park or garden.
