Barred Horsetail - Equisetum japonicum (latin)

Geographical origins: North America, Eurasia.
Adult dimensions: Height up to 1m, width up to 1 m, even more, the Barred Horsetail having a tendency to invade its environment.
Foliage: Evergreen.
Type of soil: Neutral to acid, wet to flooded (up to 5cm).
Climate: Hardy to -20°C.

Characteristics and uses:
The Barred Horsetail brings in undoubtedly, a touch of very original graphical display at the banks of a water spot, or in a flooded area. Its long, straight stems grow from the ground, from a long rhizome which can measure up to 1m. They are green, ribbed and with black rings in between each section.
No particular care is required, but your Barred Horsetail will look even more beautiful if you cut out the dry stems. Also think about removing the excess vegetation if it does spread out too much.
