Field Maple - Acer campestre (latin)

Area of origin: Europe except for Portugal.
Adult Dimensions: Height up to 15m (49.2'), width up to 10m (32.8').
Foliage: Deciduous.
Soil Type: All.
Hardiness: Hardy to -24°C.
Exposure: Full sun.


Properties and uses:
The dark green leaves become a beautiful yellow colour in autumn. This tree can cope with hard pruning. It is widely used in hedging, in rows and planted alone.


Field maple varieties:
- Field maple 'Carnival': variety of maple not exceeding 5 m in height with variegated green/creamy white foliage
- Field maple 'Red Shine': variety of maple not exceeding 8 m in height with dark red foliage then red-green from spring.
