Properties and uses:
The Castanopsis Cuspidata is a beautiful middle-sized tree originally from Japan and South Korea. It mainly grows in ravines or along the coast and requires a sheltered position. It is related to Oak. The evergreen foliage is composed of bright green leathery-textured leaves. The long inflorescences of white catkins give way to small black acorns. They are edible, as the cotyledon of the nut is eaten boiled or roasted.
It is the perfect candidate for medium-sized to small gardens due to its size, and the evergreen foliage will provide shade and give a country look to the garden.
