Properties and uses:
Mitchella repens, commonly known as Partridge Berry or Squaw Vine, is an amazing ground-covering plant. Its evergreen foliage is formed of shiny green leaves with small white veins. The Partridge Berry spreads and develops by rooting stems, to form a dense mat. In spring, tiny, dark pink buds appear, and then become melliferous, white flowers. The flowers last until July and give way to red berries which are quite appreciated by birds, until the end of autumn.
Mitchella repens is a hardy non-climbing vine, used to decorate the garden and feed the birds. It is to be planted in shaded zones, below hedges, shrubs, trees or groves.
