Everything about: Spirea, Pink

Pink Spirea - Spiraea x Billardii (latin)

Area of origin: Hybrid between Spiraea Douglasii and Spiraea Salicifolia
Adult Dimensions: Height up to 2m, width up to 1.5m
Foliage: Deciduous
Soil Type: All, preferably moist. Supports lime
Hardiness: Hardy to -20°C.
Exposure: Partial-shade to full sun.

Characteristics and uses:
The Pink Spirea is an all-terrain fast-growing shrub. It prefers soils that are moist and deep but tolerates lime and short droughts.
The foliage, like for the willow, is made of narrowly oblong leaves that are green above and velvety white underneath. They turn yellow in fall.
Between July and September, appear the clusters of pink flowers topped by fluffy stamen of the same colour.
The Pink Spirea doesn’t need a special treatment, it is often associated to the Butterfly Bush in a country hedge. It can also be planted in the background of a flowerbed and can adapt to small gardens.
