Winter Daphne, Fragrant Daphne - Daphne odora (latin)

Areas of origin: China.
Adult Dimensions: Height up to 1.5m, width up to 1.5m (4.9').
Foliage: Evergreen.
Soil Type: All.
Hardiness: Tolerant to -8°C, dislikes icy conditions and hard frosts, prefers mild climates.
Exposure: Shade to semi-shade.
Toxicity: All parts of this shrub are highly toxic.


Properties and uses:
A very interesting shrub for beautiful winter flowering from December to March, with white and pink fragrant flowers. The green or green with gold margins foliage is perfect for large or small gardens. A superb shrub for flowerbeds it can also be planted alone. Do not over prune , just lightly trim after flowering. Fantastic intoxicating fragrance, all parts toxic if ingested avoid contact with sap.

Several varieties exist:
- Daphne odora 'Aureomarginata': Dark green foliage bordered with gold.
- Daphne odora 'Marianni': Dark green and yellow foliage
