Black elderberry - Sambucus nigra (latin)

Area of origin: Central Asia, south-eastern Europe.
Adult Dimensions: Height up to 6m(19,7'), width up to 3m (9,84').
Foliage: Deciduous, dark green
Soil Type: All.
Hardiness : Hardy to -29°C.
Exposure: Semi-shade to full sun.


Properties and uses:
Beautiful large panicles of white flowers in spring becoming yellow. The flowers then produce superb bunches of black berries which are edible after cooking. This shrub can find a home in flowerbeds, country hedges and are particularly enjoyed by birds.
