Properties and uses:
The Ninebark 'Lady in Red' is a shrub with shimmering tints.
In the spring, it develops dense, coppery-red foliage which becomes purple at maturity.
Its blossom in white, slightly pink corymbs takes place from May to July. The small black berries which follow are a treat for birds.
The spectacle is not over yet, as in winter, the bark of the Physocarpus opulifolius 'Lady in Red' peels away in beige and brown strips.
It is a perfect shrub to grow in a hedge, a flowering bed and it also thrives grown in pot.
