Description: Dianthus Pink

Pink Dianthus - Dianthus plumarius rosa (latin)

Geographic Origins: The Orient and Central Europe.
Adult size: Height up to 25 cm, width up to 25 cm.
Foliage: Evergreen.
Type of soil: Well drained, neutral and chalky.
Climate: Quite hardy.
Position: Full sun.
Planting density: 9/m².

Properties and uses:
The dianthus 'Maggie', also called border pink, is a hardy perennial with scented pink flowers, from May through to July. It has narrow rough bluish leaves.
It would be ideal in a rockery or a Mediterranean style garden.
It is not very demanding and the dianthus is easy to look after.
Remove the dead flowers to prolong flowering and cut it back if it is not compact enough otherwise it may blacken around its base.

Several varieties exist:
- 'Maggie': double flowers, bright salmon pink with a purple center.
- 'Oscar Pink': double flowers, soft and pure pink.
