Properties and uses:
The Mediterranean Buckthorn is a hardy, evergreen shrub with a dense, shiny, dark green foliage. It has a strong resistance to drought and is perfectly adapted to dry climate and coastal areas. The Mediterranean Buckthorn is perfect for covering difficult areas such as root-filled undergrowth and seaside gardens exposed to sea spray. It is also the perfect plant for a low-maintenance evergreen hedge.
In spring (April-May), its discreet yellow-green flowers are highly melliferous and attract bees and other pollinators. The small berries that follow are red then they turn black when ripe. They are much appreciated by birds in autumn and winter.
This shrub is perfectly adapted to difficult areas to landscape such as root-filled undergrowth and seaside gardens exposed to sea spray. It is also the perfect choice for a low-maintenance evergreen hedge.
