Properties and uses:
Frankenia laevis, commonly known as Sea Heath, is a ground covering plant and an alternative to lawn. It tolerates moderate trampling, and its development can cover bare, dry ground in a sunny spot. It is a real plant-based carpet, and it produces small pink flowers from the end of spring through summer. In winter, the leaves may turn pinkish to red due to the cold, which makes it quite unusual in this season. In its natural habitat, the Frankenia laevis grows on the coasts, among stones and in rocky areas. In a garden, it is often used as a ground cover or to vegetate bare areas.
