Spring tamarisk - Tamarix tetrandra (latin)

Area of origin: Asia, Europe.
Adult dimensions: Height: up to 4 meters. Spread; up to 4 meters.
Foliage: Semi-deciduous.
Type of soil: Medium drained soil, supports salt, poor and sandy soils.
Hardiness: Frost hardy to -20°C for mature plants. However, it is recommended that young plants be protected from heavy frosts.
Position: Full sun, supports sea spray.

Properties and uses:
The pink blooms of this shrub will light up your garden in the spring.
After flowing, remember to prune back branches that have flowered either by half or all of their length. They will be replaced by new shoots which will flower the following year.
The Spring tamarisk can be used for hedging or planed singly. It needs to be protected from frost especially for the first few years.
