Description: Senna, scorpion

Scorpion senna - Coronilla emerus (latin)

Areas of origin: Southern Europe up to 1300 m altitude.
Adult Dimensions: Height up to 2m (6.6'), width up to 1.5m (4.9').
Foliage: Deciduous.
Soil Type: All. Avoid ground that is too wet.
Hardiness: Tolerant to -20°C.
Exposure: Full sun.


Properties and uses:
Bright yellow flowers sometimes streaked with purple from May to October.
The light foliage makes it an interesting plant in flowerbeds and rockeries.
The seeds which are poisonous are in the hanging pods of 4 to 10cm.
