Description: Wisteria blue

Blue Wisteria - Wisteria sinensis (latin)

Geographical origin: China.
Adult dimensions: Length of stems up to 25 m.
Foliage: Deciduous.
Type of soil: Rich and moist, preferably deep and well drained.
Hardiness: Hardy to -12°C, do not plant on a wind in an exposed site.
Exposure: Full sun.
Toxicity: All parts of the plant are toxic.

Properties and uses:
Chinese Wisteria (Wisteria sinensis) is highly appreciated for its spectacular blooming. Long grapes of fragrant, mauve blue or purplish-blue flowers appear in spring (April-May) well before the foliage.

Chinese Wisteria is the ideal vine to decorate and embellish garden structures such as arbors and pergolas. indeed, it is perfect for creating shaded, fragrant areas where cascading grapes of flowers produce a spectacular effect.
It can also be used to cover facades and walls.
Chinese Wisteria grows rapidly and should be pruned each year to prevent it from spreading too much.
Chinese Wisteria is an essential plant which adds a romantic touch and an intense fragrance to the spring garden.
