Flowering currant - Ribes sanguineum (latin)

Area of origin : West of United States
Adult Dimensions : Height up to 2.5m (8,2'), width up to 1.5m (4,9').
Foliage : Deciduous.
Soil Type : Not too dry or too wet. Dislikes lime.
Hardiness : Hardy to -25°C.
Exposure : Full sun.


Properties and uses:
Very beautiful and abundant dark red flowers in bunches in spring. Plant alone or within mixed groups in any park or garden.

The different varieties:
- Flowering currant 'King Edward VII' : also called "False blackcurrant", is a beautiful bushy shrub giving clusters of small dark pink flowers.
- Flowering currant 'Pulborough scarlet' : small red flowers with a white heart.
