Properties and uses:
The Nanking Cherry is an ornemental shrub of modest size. The flowers open in Spring, before the leaves, the flowering is very abundant with small white melliferous flowers. Later in summer, small fruits grow, looking like red cherries. They are edible, and their flesh is juicy and sweet. They are used for jam, or can be eaten right off the tree.
The Nanking Cherry will surprise you and is well worth discovering for its spring blossoming and its summer fruits.
