Area of origins : Eastern area of the Mediterranean.

Adult dimensions : 20 cm.

Foliage : Deciduous.

Soil type : Any.

Hardiness : Non hardy.

Exposure : Partial shade to full sun, light spot if indoors.

Characteristics and uses : "Forced” Hyacinth are planted in either in pots or a special vase filled with water, between the end of September and December for a flowering time between December and the end of March. In a vase the water must cover the base of the bulb. In order to keep the water clean, place a small lump of coal at the bottom of the vase. Keep your bulb in the dark and do not forget to water it regularly. As soon as young shoots appear bring it to the light, in a cool spot.

For “non- forced” Hyacinth plant the bulbs in either pots or borders outside, about 15 cm deep and 15 cm apart. The flowers will start as early as March accompanied by a lovely scent. These Hyacinth can equally be “forced” for growing indoors, by keeping them for 10 weeks in the bottom of a fridge followed by 4 weeks in a cool spot.
