Description: Cactus, golden star

 Golden Star Cactus - Cacto mammillaria elongata (latin)

Area of origin: Mexico.
Adult Dimensions: Up to 3 cm in diameter and up to 20 cm in height.
Soil Type: Avoid too much moisture, provide extra drainage if necessary.  Dislikes lime. 
Exposure:  Good sunlight but not burning heat.
Watering: In winter, none summer generously.
Over-wintering: Maintain at temp between 0 and 5°C and avoid environments that are too wet.  Can sometimes tolerate temperatures to -4°C if sheltered.



Characteristics and Uses:  This little cactus develops many tiges colonnaires. It produces beautiful pale yellow flowers in winter 1cm long and 1cm in diameter.  These are followed by pink fruits becoming red.
