Everything about: Clematis 'Black Tea'

Clematis 'Black Tea' - Clematis 'Black tea' (latin)

Adult dimensions: Height up to 3 m.
Foliage: Deciduous.
Type of soil: Moist and free draining.
Hardiness: Hardy to -15°C.
Exposure: Mid-shade to full sun.

Properties and uses:
This Clematis produces mid-June, then again in September, superb single flowers, dark violet to dark red in the center. Depending on the luminosity, they could look almost black.
It will enhance an old wall or a wire fence and will go beautifully with white flowers.
The Clematis likes to have its roots in the shade and its top in the sun: it will thrive with a light, regular watering coupled with bark mulch. Pruning allows it to ramify and regain vigour especially after cold winters.
