Description: Basil Cinnamon - Seeds

Basil Cinnamon - Ocimum basilicum (latin)

Type of soil: Rich and well drained.
Sowing time: March to May.
Harvest time: June to September.
Site: Full sun. Avoid draughts.

This variety stands out with its deep purple stems and matte olive-green leaves, topped by delicate spikes of violet flowers. It releases a warm, spicy fragrance that recalls the characteristic aroma of cinnamon with a subtle hint of anise.

Sow in pots or container:
Spread out the seeds on the surface of the compost in a pot or container. Cover lightly with fine compost, firm down and water using a fine spray. Place in a cool light spot. When the plants have between three and four leaves, choose the strongest specimens and plant them in pots. Once the frosts have passed, you can transfer them to the vegetable patch, spacing them 25cm apart. Water copiously after planting.

Care:
Weed and water regularly. Get rid of any flowering stems as they appear. The leaves can be harvested, as you require them.
