Purple Podded French Climbing Beans - Phaseolus vulgaris (latin)

Extremely vigorous plant, which can reach 3m in height. The purple pods are slender and straight and become dark green when cooked. The seeds pods are approximately 20cm long, their shade making them easy to harvest. Heavy yield, semi early.


Type of soil: Rich and well drained. Deeply dug.
Sowing time: Mid April to mid July.
Harvest time: 10 weeks after sowing.
Site: Full sun.


Sow directly into the ground:
- Sow seeds into furrows that are 50cm apart with a seed every 8 to 10cm.
- You can also sow them in holes containing 3 or 4 seeds that are 30cm apart.
- Cover them lightly with soil and water copiously.


Care:
- Keep the soil damp.
- Regularly hoe around the base of the plants.
- For climbing varieties, you should install some kind of support.
