'Champion Collet Rouge' Swede – Rutabaga - Rutabaga/ Brassica oleracea rapifera (latin)

Swede, also known as Rutabaga, is back!
This old vegetable is round, the skin is purplish and the flesh yellow.
It is a hardy, forage variety, easy to grow.
It is better harvested young. It is used for cooking, and it is well-known for its mild flavour and its nutritional qualities.
They last longer if you store them in a cellar or any cool, dark, and dry area, for winter consumption.


Type of soil: Rich, moist, and light.
Sowing time: From May to July.
Harvest time: From September to December.
Site: Full sun.


Sowing technique:
- Sow in rows ½ cm deep and 40 cm apart.
- Thin out one month after growth, keeping seedlings 10/12 cm apart.
- Transplant the thinned-out seedlings.
- Protect from flea beetle when growing.


Care:
- Water generously during summer.
- Hoe frequently.
- Protect from caterpillars.
- Harvest before the cold spells and keep in a cool area.
