'Noir Long Maraicher' Black Radish - Allium porrum (latin)

A long rooted variety, large with a rough black skin. The white flesh is tasty. Keeps well over winter.


Type of soil: Moist, deep and sandy.
Sowing time: From June to September.
Harvest time: From September to December.
Site: Partial shade to full sun.


Sow directly in the ground:
- Sow a seed every 2 to 3cm in a 1.5cm deep furrow, cover with fine compost and water.
- Thin out if necessary to leave a plant every 3cm.
- A cloche can be used to warm early sowings.


Care and pruning:
- Keep the soil moist and sow regularly to have a continual supply.
- Harvest as required but do not wait too long because the radishes will quickly become hot.
