Made of peat, fertilizer and lime for a balanced pH, they will expand to five times their original volume when soaked in hot water.
Sow directly on to their surface and place them in an earthenware container.
When the roots begin to traverse the mesh that holds them together, the time has come to transplant the young plant and the peat in to the ground.
