Description: Pineapple Mint

Pineapple Mint - Mentha suaveolens (latin)

Areas of origin: Europe.
Adult Dimensions: Height to 50 cm.
Foliage: Deciduous.
Soil type: Rich and humid.
Hardiness: Hardy tolerant to -35°C.
Exposure: Light shade to full sun.
Perfume: Scent of apple-pineapple.


Properties and uses:
Pineapple Mint stands out from traditional varieties with its sweet fragrance and subtle notes of ripe pineapple. Less pungent than peppermint, its fruity freshness pairs particularly well with iced teas, summer drinks, and fruit-based desserts.

As robust as it is easy to grow, this perennial thrives in the ground as ground cover or in pots on a balcony.


Several varieties exist:
- Pineapple Mint (Mentha suaveolens): soft green, uniform foliage, wider oval leaves, more vigorous growth, very hardy, tolerates full sun.
- Pineapple Mint 'Variegata' (Mentha suaveolens ‘Variegata’): bicolored green foliage edged with a creamy white border, very decorative, smaller, crinkled leaves, prefers partial shade.
