Area of origin: China. Introduced in 1879.
Adult Dimensions: Height up to 15m (49.2'), width up to 10m (32.8').
Foliage: Deciduous.

 Characteristics and Uses: Very beautiful autumnal colours when foliage turns from yellow to orange and then to scarlet.  The bark also has an unusual look, like that of “snakeskin”.  A vigorous little tree it can fit equally well into a small garden, hedging or planted alone.  Much appreciated by bonsai enthusiasts.
