Area of Origin: Tropical areas of Asia and America.
Full grown size: From 60 to 220 cm.
Foliage: Deciduous.
Soil type: Moist and humus rich.
Hardiness: Not hardy (lift the bulbs in winter).
Exposure: Full sun.
Characteristics and uses:
The Cannas leaves are reminiscent of the leaves of the banana tree.
The rhizomes are planted out in the spring, between February and end of May, and offer you magnificent flowers from the summer through to November.
Cannas can stand dry spells, but will be at their best if watered regularly.
Dead head on a regular basis to promote the apparition of new flowers, and staking is necessary for the tallest varieties.
The rhizomes can be planted out directly in your garden, or in pots.
