Areas of origin:
Forests of Japan (Island of Ryukyu). Adult Dimensions: Height up to 10 metres (33'), width up to 5
metres ( 16.4'). Foliage: Evergreen. Soil Type: Dislikes lime. Mix in compost to avoid
planting in ground that is too compact. Hardiness: In temperatures to -10°C protect with fleece.
Adult plants can tolerate temperatures to -20°C.
Protect the roots because they are
superficial. Exposure: Full sun. Avoid too much exposure to sun in
southerly climates to prevent burning. |
Characteristics and Uses:
These little trees produce beautiful simple and perfumed flowers
from September to December. They provide welcome colour in the
garden when it is most needed. |
