Dwarf French Bean 'Purple Queen' - Phaseolus vulgaris (latin)

An unusual variety, which has purple pods turning dark green when cooked. Highly productive with seeds pods 15 to 16cm long, plump and straight. Excellent flavour. Resistant to diseases, and withstanding rather low temperatures.


Type of soil: Rich and well drained. Deeply dug.
Sowing time: Mid April to mid July.
Harvest time: 10 weeks after sowing.
Site: Full sun.


Sow directly into the ground:
- Sow seeds into furrows that are 50cm apart with a seed every 8 to 10cm.
- You can also sow them in holes containing 3 or 4 seeds that are 30cm apart.
- Cover them lightly with soil and water copiously.


Care:
- Keep the soil damp.
- Regularly hoe around the base of the plants.
- For climbing varieties, you should install some kind of support.
